21 Days of Fasting and Prayer
January 9-29, 2023
The invitation is not meant to be transactional with God, exchanging your sacrifice for His blessing, rather it is time set aside to practice being present with Him and listening deeply to all that He has to say to you and to us as a community.
In our weekend gatherings this month, we will be talking about how and where the Holy Spirit shows up in Scripture. As we take this time to seek Him, let us commit to notice those places where He still shows up in our lives.

We will also meet at the church on Tuesday nights at 7 pm in January for an hour of community prayer.

Ways to Fast
The key to fasting is not just to "diet" but to spend the time with God that you would typically spend on your meals or whatever you choose to fast. There are all kinds of ways of being present with God--worship, silence, nature walks, prayer, journaling and reading Scripture are just a few. Know that however you choose to participate, God can and will meet you and meet us collectively. We are doing something that God loves and honors- seeking Him. And we are always changed from time spent with Him.
SELECTIVE FAST This fast involves removing certain foods from your diet. One example is the Daniel Fast, where you consume only water, juice, fruits, and vegetables.
PARTIAL FAST This fast involves abstaining from eating any food during specific times of the day. For instance, you might choose to fast just one meal each day.
COMPLETE FAST In this fast, you drink only liquids, typically water, with light juices as an option. Only do this if this type of fasting is something you are familiar with and are physically able to undertake.
SOUL FAST This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health reasons, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television.
